Who We Are.

Mindful Families Australia is a warm, family-focused psychology practice based in Nerang on the Gold Coast. We are a family run practice that pride ourselves on creating a therapeutic space that feels like home.

Our team are committed to providing high-quality, evidence-based therapy and assessment in a safe, calm, and nurturing environment where every person is respected and welcomed exactly as they are.

Mindful Families celebrates neurodiversity and strives for strengths-based, respectful, collaborative care that meets people where they are. Our team specialises in supporting neurodivergent individuals and the families who love them. We take a strengths-focused and neurodivergent-affirming approach — helping people understand themselves with compassion, reduce shame and self-criticism, and grow in ways that feel authentic and sustainable. Our team works systemically and our clinic offers family therapy, supporting families to grow and thrive in whatever unique and wonderful form they take. We support families to strengthen relationships, improve communication, and deepen understanding across generations.

Our Approach.

We believe that real change happens in safe, respectful relationships — and that no person exists in isolation. That is why we take a systemic and family-centred approach, supporting not only the individual, but also the relationships and environments around them.

Our work is:

  • Neurodivergent-affirming

  • Trauma-informed

  • Compassion-focused

  • Strengths-based

  • Evidence-grounded

We value autonomy, consent, and collaboration. We do not expect people to mask, suppress their needs, or “fit a mold.” Instead, we seek to understand each person’s unique way of being and support them to live meaningfully and well.

In the spirit of reconciliation, Mindful Families Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We acknowledge the Yugambeh People on whose land our clinic resides. We pay our respects and gratitude to their elders past and present and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

Mindful Families Australia is a neurodiversity-affirming practice. We acknowledge and value the wide range of human neurotypes, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, and other forms of neurodivergence. Our work is grounded in respect, collaboration, and care — supporting individuals and families to understand their strengths, reduce stigma and shame, and develop sustainable ways of living and relating. We aim to create safe spaces where people can be themselves, have their needs understood, and feel seen and supported — without being pathologised or asked to mask who they are.
