ADHD Assessments

At Mindful Families Australia (MFA), we specialize in comprehensive, professional, and cost-effective ADHD assessments.

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by symptoms such as inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity. Understanding ADHD can significantly impact an individual’s educational, occupational, and social life.

As a Neurodivergent Affirming Practice, we go beyond simply identifying ADHD; we support you in understanding what ADHD means for your life including the unique strengths that often come with adhd such as creativity, high energy levels, and problem-solving abilities.

Recognizing that no two individuals are alike, our assessments provide more than just a "label". We offer a thorough understanding of your unique neurodiversity, including specific strengths and differences associated with ADHD. Additionally, we provide tailored recommendations to support you within your family, school, or workplace, and help you develop a plan for any necessary changes or accommodations.

Our Assessment Process

At MFA, we strive to make our assessment process clear, supportive, and tailored to meet your needs. Here’s a walk-through of what you can expect when you come to us for an assessment.

Step 1. Initial Contact

Your journey with us begins with a call to our friendly admin team. They are available during weekdays and ready to gather some basic information and book your initial consultation. This first step ensures that we start with a solid understanding of your needs and that the process is convenient for you.

2. Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is an essential step in our process. This 1-hour session is designed to gather all the relevant information we need to create a comprehensive assessment plan for you or your loved one.

3. Post-Consultation

Following your initial consultation, we will craft a personalized assessment plan and email it to you. This plan will outline the recommended tests and procedures, along with a detailed quote. This ensures that you have a clear understanding of the process and associated costs. We encourage you to schedule the recommended testing sessions as soon as possible.

4. Testing Sessions

The assessment process involves testing sessions, which typically include specific interviews, answering questionnaires, and completing cognitive tests. These tests often involve answering questions and solving puzzles administered via iPad, designed to provide comprehensive insights into cognitive and behavioral functioning.

5. Report Writing and Feedback Session

Once the testing sessions are complete, our psychologist will take approximately 2-4 weeks to compile a detailed report. Following this, you will be invited for a feedback session where the psychologist will provide you with the report and walk you through the results. This session aims to ensure that you fully understand the findings and recommendations.
